Track 4 – Airborne (Jamie xx influence)

This track was influenced by Jamie xx, whose recent work on his album In Waves draws heavily from dub and sound system practices. During development, the track began to take on the characteristics of a conventional house track, moving away from clear links to dub-influenced production.

To address this, I introduced a heavier, bass-driven section to contrast with the more emotive tone of the track at 2:24. In earlier drafts, this section consisted of a shorter loop of the main chord progression, which lacked variation and felt repetitive. By introducing dubstep/jungle-influenced elements while retaining the lead vocal as a central focus, I was able to maintain cohesion while increasing contrast and energy. This approach allowed the track to remain engaging while drawing on UK underground sounds rooted in dub music.
